Big Fish Dockside on Urbanspoon

Tired of the same old boring brunch items? Craving some fresh seafood? If so head down to Big Catch on the weekend for an amazing seafood brunch experience. A number of different brunch options have popped up all around Edmonton Trail over the last few years including arguably the most popular destination Diner Deluxe. Driving by we're always deterred by the huge line ups and the prospect of having to wait hours for a table, so we opted for the more low key option of Big Fish and weren't disappointed in the least!

Nothing spells brunch more than eggs benedict. At Big Fish they have their own take on this classic dish substituting the usual Canadian bacon with a large amount of succulent and fresh dungeness crab. The hash browns and a creamy tarragon hollandaise sauce were also expertly made.

The smoked trout hash was also one of our favourite dishes of the day. The smokey flavour of the fish went great with the earthiness of the potatoes, while the runny yolk from the poached egg tied all the flavours together.

In addition to the usual brunch dishes, there are also a few different lunch sandwiches to choose from for those craving something a little more substantial. Below is the fried soft shell crab BLT sandwich which was amazing!  If you've never had deep friend soft shell crab, you really have to give it a try. It had a super crispy crust on the outside while the inside was really creamy and chalked full of crab meat and flavour. The crispy fried bacon, ripe tomatoes and chipotle mayo all combined to make one of the best sandwiches I've ever had.

Next time you're looking for a brunch spot, forego the lines of some of the more conventional places and head straight to Big Fish.
