ESET research discovers SideWalk backdoor – Why data breach costs have never been higher – 620,000 personal pictures stolen from iCloud accounts

In this edition of Week in security, Tony looks at these topics:

  • ESET research uncovered a new modular backdoor, SideWalk, which an APT group called SparklingGoblin has deployed against a US-based computer retail company.
  • The recently-published IBM Cost of a Data Breach report put the data breach costs at an all-time high, and we dived deeper into the report and considered what’s behind the statistics.
  • A man from California has confessed to invading the Apple iCloud accounts of hundreds of individuals and downloading more than 600,000 photos and videos.
