Apple's best value iPad yet, the iPad 10.2 (2021) is significantly faster than its predecessor, super easy to use and comes with an upgraded selfie camera that makes video calling a great deal smoother. Other upgrades are smaller but welcome, such as True Tone technology, which makes the display adjust to suit your surroundings. It doesn't have the lightness of the Air or the sheer power of the iPad Pro range, but all in all, it's a fantastic affordable tablet for those that don't need the absolute most powerful tech that Apple offers.
At first glance, the iPad (2020) looked identical to the previous iteration, but there was a key change under the hood. The 8th generation iPad (2020) features an Apple A12 Bionic CPU with Neural Engine, which was a definite upgrade over the iPad (2019) and its outdated A10 CPU. With better battery life, Apple Pencil support, and a crisp Retina display, the tablet still offers excellent value for creatives. Just make sure to go for the 128GB model because 32GB simply isn't enough storage anymore.
It's getting a little long in the tooth, but the 2019 iPad is still worth considering if you find a good deal. It supports the first-gen Apple Pencil, making it an effective drawing and painting tool, although its now-ageing A10 processor might struggle a little with complex multi-layered images. Again the 32GB version offers nowhere near enough storage space, so you'll need to opt for the 128GB option. Don't forget to grab yourself a cheap Apple Pencil deal at the same time.
The best Apple deals: iPad Pro
The 2021 iPad Pro 12in is Apple's most powerful tablet yet, introducing its own M1 chip to the iPad Pro. While the concept's been bandied about for years, this time Apple really has come close to producing a tablet that can replace a laptop or desktop PC. Pair this iPad with Apple's Magic Keyboard and you have a fully fledged multitasking productivity machine complete with a trackpad for a more laptop-like user experience. It's a brilliant device for all kinds of creative work, and indeed all kinds of work and play in general.
The 11in iPad Pro is a lighter, more portable, and more affordable version of Apple's top-of-the-range tablet. It doesn't boast the Liquid Retina XDR Mini LED display, which is one of the highlight of the larger device, but you still get the stunning performance of Apple's M1 chip and the same cameras, making it a great device if you want something smaller than the 12.9in tablet.
The 2020 iPad Pro has been superseded by this year's M1-chipped model, but with an A12Z Bionic CPU as well as an eight-core GPU, it's still a powerful beast suitable for the likes of 4K video editing, 3D and AR. Its 12.9in display is crisp and smooth, thanks to a 120Hz refresh rate. It even has a LiDAR scanner augmenting its dual cameras.
With the newer iteration now available, this is one of the devices that has been coming in for the best Apple deals over the past few months. Availability is now starting to wane, but you might still be able to pick up a renewed model at a good price. The 11in model is also still knocking around, offering much the same performance in a smaller format for $200/£200 less.
The best Apple deals: iPad Air
The iPad Air (2020) is the perfect compromise between the classic iPad and the Pro. In terms of specs, it outshines the entry-level iPad, but it won't set you back anywhere near as much as the Pro. The 4th generation iPad Air even features Apple's A14 Bionic chipset with Neural Engine, Liquid Retina display, and dual cameras (12MP rear, 7MP front). It has fantastic screen and CPU specs, although the Air's smaller 10.2-inch screen size and lack of facial recognition are a couple of the things missing that explain its lower price. Coming in for some of the best Apple deals lately, the iPad Air can be excellent value for money.

We reckon the 2021 MacBook Pro 14-inch is the best laptop that creative professionals can buy right now. Yes, it’s expensive, but nothing can rival the performance and build quality this laptop offers, and surprisingly it has even seen a few deals already, although no more than around $100/£100 off.
While the 2020 M1 MacBook 13 was already very impressive (see number 3), Apple's new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips (you can choose which configuration to opt for), take things even further and mean the latest Pros can handle even the most intensive creative with ease, offering excellent performance with complex graphics, including ultra high-resolution textures. It can often beat what even powerful professional graphics cards from Nvidia and AMD can manage, and its improved handling of video is superb.
The new MacBook Pro offers more power than most people will need in a laptop, but for professional creatives, it's a dream. We only put the 14in at number one because its more portable size will make it the more convenient option for many – and it's a little cheaper too – but if you need the larger screen, there's the 16in version below.
If you want Apple's best ever MacBook but with even more display to admire, you can get just that in the MacBook Pro 16in (2021). The larger device offers the same incredible performance with a larger screen and even better battery life. For many video editors and other creatives, the extra screen size will be very welcome. Don't expect to see big deals on this beast for some time, but keep your eye on the price above for any reductions.
The MacBook Pro M1 was the first of Apple’s professional laptops to come with the company's own M1 chip instead of Intel hardware. The result is a powerful laptop that can handle intense design and video editing tasks with ease. Design-wise, it takes all its cues from the previous iteration – no bad thing at all, but it might have disappointed those hoping for a more radical revamp.
But it's performance where the differences really come with the latest MacBook Pro iterations. The 2020 Pro 11 features Apple's 8-core M1 chip with integrated 8GB graphics, macOS Big Sur (which can also run iOS apps), and all-day battery life. The M1 Pro/Max-sporting 2021 14 and 16-inch devices have improved on this further, but these are still impressive specs that will handle most creative tasks with no problem.
There is a lack of ports, with only two Thunderbolt 3 ports plus an audio jack, so you're going to need an adaptor if you want to hook up a monitor or other hardware (Apple took this complaint on board and added an HDMI port, SD card slot, and MagSafe to the 2021 MacBook Pros at number 1 and 2 in our list), but the MacBook Pro M1 is still well worth the investment for creative professionals.
For anyone after a powerful, affordable, and lightweight laptop for creative work, the MacBook Air (M1, 2020) has seen some of the best Apple deals lately, with prices slipping under $900/£900 during Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2021. The latest MacBook Air has the kind of sleek and stylish design you want from Apple with plenty of power to perform well during demanding creative work.
The MacBook Air now even comes with Apple's own M1 chip with an 8-core CPU and 7-core GPU. Together with the ultra-responsive macOS Big Sur, all-day battery life, and 13.3-inch Retina display with P3 wide colour gamut support, it's a powerful creative laptop in a lightweight package. If the MacBook Pro is out of your price range, or you want something that little bit lighter, this is the laptop you're looking for.
If you're after maximum screen size but find the latest 2021 MacBook Pro 16 too pricy, the 2019 iteration might be an option. It doesn't have Apple's new silicon, but it's still an all-around creative powerhouse that can cope with heavyweight tasks in its more high-end (and expensive) configurations.
Its 16in Retina display is a beauty to behold and the keyboard's scissor switches instead of the unreliable butterfly switches in previous models offered a huge improvement. The only issue is still the price, but keep an eye out for discounts now this has been discontinued.
Best Apple deals: iMac
For a colourful Mac experience, Apple's ultra-thin iMac M1 comes in a choice of six colours, offering truly stunning aesthetics. As for the specs, the 24-inch 4.5K display is gorgeous, and Apple's M1 chip offers a more-than-capable CPU. However, the iMac M1 maxes out at 16GB RAM and only features integrated graphics, so some creative pros may want to consider the beefier iMac 27-inch (see below). Still, for low-to-moderate design work and general computing, the iMac M1 is a solid machine.
If it's a desktop Mac that you require, Apple has an iMac to suit. The basic 21.5in iMac model is probably just a little too basic for most creatives, with its HD sRGB display, 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 CPU and Intel Iris Plus graphics; you'll want to spend extra for the 4K P3 display with a more powerful processor and Radeon Pro graphics.
For ultimate desktop swag, though, it's the 27in iMac model you should be looking at, with its gloriously sharp and bright 5K display. Again it comes in a variety of configurations, enabling you to pick the right amount of power for your line of work, and right now it's part of the very best Apple deals around.
The only real downside to the iMac is the mouse with its charging port on the underside, meaning you can't charge and use it at the same time; keep it topped up overnight. Whichever spec you choose, we'd recommend upgrading the memory; every model comes with 8GB RAM, but for serious creative work we'd advise increasing that to at least a more roomy 16GB.
You don't find the 2017 iMac Pro available in many places now, and you probably don't need it, but it's still a very desirable piece of Apple kit, with its 27-inch Retina 5K display and Space Grey styling that marks it apart from the rest of the iMac range. Its breathtaking specs, and heart-stopping price tag, are way above and beyond what most designers are ever likely to need. If you're working regularly with full-frame photography, high-end video or rich 3D environments, there may be a case for choosing the iMac Pro, but realistically you're unlikely to ever use a fraction of its workstation-level power.
Best Apple deals: Apple Pencil
The original Apple Pencil was first released back in 2015, and its excellent quality means it's retained its value to this day. Whether you can use it depends on what model iPad you have, however. It's supported by the iPad 10.2-inch (2019), iPad mini (2019) and iPad Air (2019). If you have anything newer than those, then you'll need the slightly more expensive second-gen Apple Pencil below, which ironed out a couple of the flaws in this first stylus, particularly the circular design which makes it prone to rolling away.
If you have anything other than a standard 2019 iPad or iPad Air, you'll need a second-generation Apple Pencil. It costs a little more but includes several welcome features that offer improvements over its older sibling. It ditches the totally circular design for a flat edge, which means it won't roll away and can be attached to an iPad via magnets for safekeeping and wireless charging. It also has a matte finish for a more authentic pencil feel and a nicer hold.
Best Apple deals: Apple Watch
The Apple Watch 7 is the biggest Apple Watch yet and the first major redesign since the Apple Watch 4. The bigger screen size make it the most usable Apple Watch yet, while it also chargers more quickly and has a 70 per cent brighter always on display indoors. We're unlikely to see any big deals on this for a while since it was only released in October 2021, but it's definitely the best Apple watch yet.
Like the Apple Watch 5, September 2020's Apple Watch Series 6 has an always-on screen, which is great when we're talking about a display as detailed as this! To preserve battery life, previous iterations of the Watch kept the display off most of the time, which meant you had to do the Apple hand-jive to see the time, but no more! The big step forward with the series 6 was blood oxygen monitoring – great if you want to keep on top of your fitness / wellbeing.
The Apple Watch 6 offered ceramic, stainless steel and ceramic cases on top of the existing aluminium option, and fresh goodies such as an ECG app, international emergency calling, fall detection and even a compass. The battery life is also a step up from the Watch 5, and with the S6 processor, everything just runs that bit quicker.
The price is still twice that of the still-great Watch 3, which continues to see big discounts, so we advise you look at both options (see below). This was also released at the same time as the cheaper Apple Watch SE, which is also well worth a look. But rest assured, if you choose the Watch 6, you'll have a quality, cutting edge smartwatch on your wrist for many a year.
If the Apple Watch Series 6 is too pricy but you want something more up to date than the Apple Watch Series 3, the Apple Watch SE might be for you. It's among Apple's most affordable watch offerings. While it may lack some more cutting-edge features – notably an always-on display – it does just enough for it to be a serviceable companion to your iPhone.
Like the Series 6, this mid-range Apple Watch includes 32GB of storage and runs watchOS 7. The SE has an S5 chipset, which is one notch down from the Series 6 and its S6 chipset. However, one area where the Apple Watch SE beats the Apple Watch Series 6 is battery life – a silver lining to that lack of always-on display.
If you don't need all the bells and whistles of the Series 6, go for the Apple Watch SE and save some cash on your brand-new smartwatch . You can put the extra money towards customising your new SE by picking up one of the best Apple Watch bands.
Best Apple deals: Apple AirPods
Released in October 2021, Apple's improved third-generation Apple AirPods offer some of the features of the AirPods Pro (although they're not noise-cancelling). They have shorter stems and offer water and sweat resistance, force control and Adaptive EQ to automatically tune music to your ear.
You can't argue with popularity, and since their launch, Apple's AirPods have become a much sought-after accessory. Last year's update delivered improved audio quality, longer talk time, voice-activated Siri and an optional wireless charging case; if the latter's a clincher for you, we'd strongly advise paying a bit more for the far superior AirPods Pro below.
It's lovely when an Apple product lives up to the hype. We initially laughed at the notion of AirPods Pro when they were launched last year, then we checked out the specs and features. It's those extra details such as the silicone ear tips, adaptive EQ, noise-cancelling and transparency mode that made us realise that we definitely had to own a pair.
In classic Apple fashion, they just work. The noise-cancellation isn't perfect, but it's a lot better than you'd ever expect a pair of in-ears to be. Switching between that and transparency mode, which lets you hear everything that's going on around you, is as simple as squeezing one of the arms. And the fit is near perfect; it's easy to forget you're wearing them. We'd love a little more battery life, and changing the ear tips is a struggle until you learn the knack, but beyond that we can wholeheartedly recommend them, especially considering some of the price cuts available now.
The Apple AirPods Max is a bit of a misnomer. Unlike the in-ear AirPods before them, the Max are over-ear headphones meant to rival the likes of higher-end models from Sony and Bose. Quite honestly, Apple has manufactured a strong contender.
The Apple AirPods Max are one of the best wireless noise-cancelling headphones you can buy...if you're already firmly planted in Apple's ecosystem. In addition to fantastically-balanced sound, the AirPods Max also include a variety of features exclusive to iOS such as always-on Siri, audio sharing across Apple devices, and Spatial Audio for an immersive experience whilst watching movies.
Could you use the Apple AirPods Max with, say, an Android phone? Sure, but you'll lose a range of features that'll make difficult to justify the Max's high price tag. If you want to level up your iPhone or iPad audio, however, it's hard to go wrong with the AirPods Max.
Best Apple deals: iPhone
The iPhone 13 is a step up from the previous model, although it isn’t exactly a game changer. It does offer better battery life, plus a better processor and an upgraded camera setup. If you don't need the extra features offered by the pricier iPhone 13 Pro, but want the latest iPhone, this is for you. Otherwise, you might want to look out for a bargain on an earlier model.
Apple is always happy to tempt us with bigger, more feature-packed models of the iPhone, but for our money the standard iPhone 12 is the best bet right now. It lacks the extra telephoto camera found on the Pro and Pro Max, it's only water resistant to two metres rather than four, and its display is Liquid Retina rather than the brighter, higher-res Super Retina XDR, but if you can live with that then its significantly lower price seals the deal.
The iPhone 12's wide and ultra-wide 12MP front cameras will suit most of your photographic needs, it'll shoot 4K video at 60fps, it has the same A14 Bionic chip as its more expensive siblings, and it comes in a range of much more alluring colours. If it's still a bit rich for your tastes, however, the new iPhone SE would be a fine budget alternative.
