Black Friday iPad deals: when is Black Friday 2021?
You probably know the score right now, even if you aren't American. Black Friday happens the day after Thanksgiving in the US, so this year it'll come around on 26 November, with Cyber Monday following hot on its heels on 29 November. That whole extended weekend is when we're expecting the best Black Friday iPad deals to surface.
If you're in a hurry to buy, though, you'll be pleased to know that retailers generally roll out Black Friday deals well in advance; essentially the whole of November's fair game these days. And while the best deals will most likely be held back until Black Friday itself, there's a strong chance you'll come across the Black Friday iPad deal of your dreams long before the Americans have even put the turkey in the oven.
The best bargains, however, tend to sell out straight away, so you still have to be quick off the mark. We advise checking back to this page from now on, as we're already seeing retailers launch early Black Friday deals.
Black Friday iPad deals: How to find the best deals
Although we're expecting plenty of Black Friday iPad deals this year, don't hang around if you want to take advantage of them. Supply chain issues around the world could mean that the best deals could be rarer than usual and maybe even time-limited, and they'll probably sell out quickly. So if you're determined to find a bargain iPad this month then you'll have to move quickly; here's the place to be to find out about the latest deals as soon as we see them.
One good way to ensure you can be quick if a deal appears is to think beforehand about what iPad you're after. Do you want a standard iPad, a Pro, a mini or an Air? How much storage do you want? Does it need to be cellular, or will WiFi do? Remember that retailers often unload older models at knock-down prices on Black Friday, so decide whether you're interested in that.
Black Friday iPad deals 2021: How much can you save?
Apple didn't get where it is today by chopping big percentages off its prices, so you need to have realistic expectations of how much you want to save with Black Friday iPad deals. The maximum discount you're likely to see is 40%, but that sort of saving's pretty rare and you'll probably have to make do with older stock. That said, there'll definitely be deals worth having; bear in mind that even a 10% discount on a recent iPad Pro is still a good saving.
Last year, we saw a lot of Apple Black Friday deals on iPads at third party retailers, such as Walmart and Best Buy in the US shoppers and Currys, eBay, John Lewis, Laptops Direct and Amazon in the UK. Last year, Laptops Direct, for example, had £174 off the latest iPad Pro. Therefore, we'd certainly keep an eye on these outlets on Black Friday and Cyber Monday this year.
Which retailers offer Black Friday iPad deals?
The one place you won't find Black Friday iPad deals is at the Apple Store; rather than offering discounts, Apple tends to sweeten the deal with Black Friday gift cards that you can redeem against later purchases. So if you'd prefer to save cold hard cash you need to look elsewhere, and there are plenty of retailers ready to provide a discount on your new iPad. In the US, Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon and B&H Photo are often worth trying. In the UK, Currys, eBay, John Lewis and, again, Amazon are all good places to look for iPad deals.
Of course, the easiest way to keep an eye out for the top deals is to keep checking this page. We'll save you from having to continually scan all the major retailers' sites by linking directly to the best Black Friday iPad deals as they appear. Just bookmark this URL and keep checking back!

Black Friday iPad Pro deals
The launch of a new iPad is exciting enough, but there's also a knock-on effect in that you're likely to find price cuts on older models. The recent launch of the 2021 iPad Pro with the M1 chip means that the 2020 model is ripe for Black Friday iPad deals, and we've already spotted some top savings. That's not all, though; we're also seeing deals on the brand new models, and there's probably more to come as we get closer to Black Friday.
The best discounts will be on the 2020 models, though, and if you can put up with slightly reduced performance you'll be onto a winner. Both the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2020) and the iPad Pro 11-inch (2020) offer plenty of power, with A12Z Bionic processors, impressive battery capabilities and a variety of storage options. The 12.9-inch version lags behind the newer models a bit more than the 11-inch version, we reckon, with a less impressive display; M1 and a few other little features aside, the 11-inch 2020 iPad Pro is largely identical to the latest version.
There are plenty of older iPads to choose from, too, and the 2018 iPad Pros are still-popular models that are currently seeing some decent discounts. Here are the best Cyber Monday iPad Pro deals from 2020. Also check out our price widget, which pulls in the best prices in your area.
Black Friday iPad deals
The standard 10.2-inch iPad isn't in the best place right now; the recent launch of the iPad mini 6 means it's the least powerful iPad available. It's all relative, though; it's still a solid performer with an A12 Bionic chip and support for Apple Pencil (1st gen only) and the Smart Keyboard, and we reckon there's plenty of scope for tasty Black Friday iPad deals. See below for what's available now.
Black Friday iPad Air deals
Last year saw unexpected discounts on the brand new iPad Air over the Black Friday weekend, and we're expecting even better deals this year. With the 2020 Air getting on a bit it's ripe for bargains, and deals on last year's 11-inch iPad Pro could mean the Air gets knocked down a bit more in price; who'd go for an Air when there's a Pro available for just a bit more? Here are the best iPad Air deals right now.
Black Friday iPad Mini deals
There's a new iPad mini in town and it's properly amazing, outperforming not only the standard iPad but the 2020 iPad Air too. The bad news is that we've yet to see any meaningful discounts on it and we doubt there'll be much (if anything) knocked off the price for Black Friday. However, we're confident that there'll be some great deals available for the 2019 iPad mini 5, which is still a fab little tablet; check the latest iPad mini deals below.
Black Friday iPad deals: Which iPad should I buy?
Which iPad is best for you? If you want maximum power, specs and screen size, then you'll want the top-of-the-range iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2021) with its M1 chip, and there are already some small but worthwhile discounts available.
The slightly smaller (and cheaper) iPad Pro 11-inch (2021) is another good choice for creatives, and has the same super-charged chip, but if you're after a bargain we'd advise looking for the 2020 model that's almost as good.. Both iPad Pro models are available with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB or 2TB of memory for your photos, music and videos, and both work with the second-generation Apple Pencil.
Think about whether do you really want to pay extra for a cellular model. The alternative is to tether a Wi-Fi-enabled iPad to your phone, and use that for a mobile signal when you're away from Wi-Fi instead. Meanwhile, if you want to save even more money, and are not so fussed about screen size, or top specs, then the 10.2-inch iPad (2019) could be ideal for you. It's a lot cheaper, and has a still-impressive A10 chip and 2160 x 1620-pixel resolution. It supports the first generation Apple Pencil, and is available with 32GB or 128GB of memory.
Don't overlook the iPad mini. The latest version is the update we've all been waiting for, with an A15 chip, a slightly bigger screen and Apple Pencil 2 support; see our Apple iPad mini (6th Gen) review for all the enticing details. There's also the iPad Air, which has 10.5-inch display and also has an A12 chip, plus several older models of the iPad. The 2017 versions have previously been on sale over Black Friday, so there probably will be Black Friday iPad price-cutting on them again this time. However if you want to use your iPad for drawing then you'll want one with Apple Pencil support, which some of the older models don't offer.
